Description: Cal/OSHA has been working on a workplace violence prevention regulation for several years. On July 1st of this year SB 553 finally went into effect. It requires California employers to develop and implement a workplace violence prevention plan in accordance with Labor Code Section 6401.9. In this program we will address what employers should be doing to identify and address hazards associated with workplace violence in the workplace and how employers’ action to address workplace violence prevention must be considered in light of employee rights and other obligations associated with the employer – employee relationship. We will also cover what to do with that information and provide resource information on how to build and implement a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan.
